How To Make A Hat » Tri-Corner Pirate Hat

on Aug 24th, 2009Tri-Corner Pirate Hat

Materials Needed

One black or brown poster board, scissors, stapler, glue, clear tape, ruler or measuring tape

Cut a circle that’s about 26” in diameter (wide).

Centered inside the circle, cut an oval that’s 9” in diameter at its longest point. Remove the middle oval, and set it aside. It will be the top of the hat. What’s left is the hat brim.

Cut out a rectangle that is 28” long and 6” high.

Roll the rectangle to match side edges, and allow them to overlap by ½ inch. Glue them in place, and add a couple of staples for stability.

Stand the cylinder inside the brim, and tape it in place. Turn the hat over, and tape the underside too.

Tape the top “lid” in place.

Pinch three corners of the brim so that three sides stand upward. Tack each edge to the side of the hat.

Now, make ye little sister walk the plank, er it be the brig fer ya! Arggh, matey.
